Zika Virus Infection Rash : How To Remember Easily ?
Z – Zika virus infection: Pruritic macular and papular erythema; rash may begin on trunk and descend to lower body; conjunctival injection; palatal petechiae may occur.
I – Insect bite: Mosquito bite; sexual transmission or blood transfusion less common.
K – Key symptoms: Arthralgia (especially of small joints), myalgia, lymphadenopathy, headache, low-grade fever.
A – Adverse effects in pregnancy: Illness in pregnancy may cause severe birth defects, including microcephaly.
V – Various complications: Neurologic complications, including Guillain-Barré, may occur.
I – Infection routes: Zika virus can be transmitted through mosquito bites, sexual contact, or blood transfusion.
