How To Remember Ackerman Syndrome Signs & Symptoms?
The eyes, ears, and skull may all be affected by the extremely rare genetic condition known as Ackerman Syndrome. Although a genetic mutation is suspected, the precise cause of Ackerman Syndrome remains unknown. A cleft lip or palate can be treated with speech therapy, and surgery can correct eye or ear defects in some cases of this disease.
Here are the signs and symptoms of Ackerman Syndrome :
- Constipation
- Nystagmus (involuntary eye movements)
- Hypotonia (low muscle tone)
- Epilepsy
- Abnormal gait (walking)
- Delayed speech and language development
- Facial dysmorphism (unusual facial features)
- Intellectual disability
- Small head size (microcephaly)
- Hyperactivity
- Delayed motor development
- Short stature
- Strabismus (crossed eyes)
