How To Remember Achard–Thiers Syndrome Signs & Symptoms?

Achard-Thiers syndrome is a rare endocrine disorder that affects females. It is also known as diabetic virilizing syndrome or hyperandrogenic insulin-resistant acanthosis nigricans.

Symptoms include insulin resistance, an increase in androgens (male hormones), and a skin condition called acanthosis nigricans (dark, thickened patches of skin on the back of the neck, underarms, and groin).

 

Here are the signs and symptoms of Achard–Thiers Syndrome :

  • Hyperandrogenism (elevated levels of male hormones)
  • Acne
  • Hirsutism (excessive hair growth on the face, chest, and back)
  • Amenorrhea (absence of menstrual periods)
  • Infertility or reduced fertility in women
  • Polycystic ovary syndrome
  • Obesity
  • Ovarian cysts
  • Insulin resistance
