Here is a quick mnemonic ” INGESTIOn “ to remember about Typhoid Fever & Rash

This can be valuable for patients as well as medical doctors, nurses & students doing their clinical rounds. You can also find it very useful for med exams like USMLE, NEET PG, FMGE, NExT & NCLEX exams

Typhoid Fever & Rash: How To Remember Easily ?

  • “I” – Ingestion of contaminated food or water (rare in U.S.)
  • “N” – Non-specific symptoms like headache and myalgias.
  • “G” – Gastrointestinal symptoms such as variable abdominal pain and diarrhea.
  • “E” – Erythematous macules and papules, 2-4 mm in size, usually on the trunk (rose spots).
  • “S” – Salmonella typhi, the causative agent of typhoid fever.
  • “T” – Transient, blanchable erythematous macules and papules.
  • “I” – Ingestion of contaminated food or water (rare in U.S.).
  • “O” – Other symptoms like hepatosplenomegaly.
  • “n” – (blank)
