Secondary Syphilis Rash : How To Remember Easily ?

  • S – Syphilis: Secondary syphilis is caused by Treponema pallidum.
  • E – Eruption: It presents as a copper-colored, scaly papular eruption.
  • C – Chancre: Coincident primary chancre occurs in 10% of cases.
  • O – Over palms and soles: The eruption is diffuse but prominent on palms and soles.
  • N – Never vesicular: The rash is never vesicular in adults.
  • D – Different manifestations: Condyloma lata, mucous patches, and alopecia can occur in some cases.
  • A – Alopecia: Alopecia can be seen in some cases.
  • R – Rash: The eruption is a characteristic feature of secondary syphilis.
  • Y – Yes to constitutional symptoms: Fever and other constitutional symptoms can be present.
