Rickettsialpox is an infectious disease caused by the bacterium Rickettsia akari. It is transmitted to humans through the bite of certain mites, particularly the house mouse mite (Liponyssoides sanguineus). Rickettsialpox is a relatively rare disease, and outbreaks are usually associated with urban areas where mice infestations are common.
One of the main symptoms of rickettsialpox is the development of a rash. The rash typically begins as a red spot or bump at the site of the mite bite. Over the next few days, the rash progresses and spreads to other parts of the body. The rash may be accompanied by other symptoms such as fever, headache, muscle aches, and fatigue.
