Periodic Limb Movement Disorder : How To Remember Easily ?

  • L – Legs twitch during sleep disruption.
  • E – Extensions of great toe and dorsiflexion of the foot occur.
  • G – Great toe shows movements resembling a triple flexion reflex.
  • T – Twitches recur every 20-40 seconds during NREM sleep.
  • W – Wakefulness is interrupted by frequent arousals caused by leg movements.
  • I – Insomnia and daytime sleepiness can result from PLMD.
  • T – Tibialis anterior muscle is recorded during polysomnogram.
  • C – Common medications for RLS can improve leg movements in PLMD.
  • H – Hours-long episodes of leg twitches may occur.
