Orthostatic Hypotension Treatment : How To Remember Easily ?

  • O – Orthostatic hypotension, a reduction in blood pressure upon standing or head-up tilt.
  • R – Reflex failure leads to a lack of compensatory increase in heart rate.
  • T – Transient mismatch between cardiac output and peripheral vascular resistance.
  • HHeadache in the suboccipital and posterior cervical region, known as the “coathanger headache.
  • O – Occurrence of symptoms within 15 seconds of standing (initial orthostatic hypotension).
  • B – Blurred vision due to retinal or occipital lobe ischemia.
  • L – Light-headedness, dizziness, and presyncope as characteristic symptoms.
  • O – Orthostatic dyspnea due to inadequate perfusion of ventilated lung apices.
  • O – Occurrence of syncope, usually preceded by warning symptoms.
  • D – Decreased blood pressure without symptoms, putting patients at risk of falls and injuries.
