The nasal cavity, located in the midline of the face, is a wide, air-filled region above and behind the nose. The nasal fossae are the smaller of the two cavities that the nasal septum creates. One of the two nostrils continues in each cavity.
The nasal cavity connects the nostrils with the nasopharynx and the rest of the respiratory system, and is the most anterior portion of the respiratory system.
