How To Remember Acrorenal Mandibular Syndrome Signs & Symptoms?

Acrorenal mandibular syndrome, also called Acrorenal mandibular field defect, is a rare genetic disorder that affects the ears, jaw, and kidneys, among other parts of the head and face.
 
Some of the signs are underdeveloped or missing ears, a small jaw, and problems with the kidneys. Mutations in the transcription factor TFAP2A gene cause the disorder, and it is passed down in an autosomal dominant way.
 
Acrorenal mandibular syndrome can’t be cured right now, so treatment is aimed at relieving symptoms and giving support.
 
 

Here are the signs and symptoms of Acrorenal Mandibular Syndrome Signs & Symptoms :

  • Facial asymmetry
  • Short stature
  • Hypoplasia of the hands and feet
  • Craniosynostosis (premature fusion of skull bones)
  • Renal (kidney) anomalies
  • Underdeveloped jaw (micrognathia)
  • Cleft lip and/or palate
  • Intellectual disability or developmental delays.
  • Abnormal ears (low-set or small)
  • Limb defects (such as clubfoot or missing fingers)
