As a medical student, I find mnemonics to be incredibly helpful in remembering important facts and concepts. The mnemonic “5H PAL” for the causes of erythema multiforme is particularly useful because it helps me quickly recall the most common causes of this condition.
By remembering the five H’s (Herpes simplex virus, Histoplasmosis, Hepatitis B and C, Human immunodeficiency virus, and Helicobacter pylori) and the letter P (Psoriasis) and L (Lupus erythematosus), I can easily recall the potential underlying causes of erythema multiforme in patients.
This mnemonic is especially useful during exams when time is limited and when your memory might fail you under pressure. By quickly remembering this mnemonic, you can confidently answer questions related to the causes of erythema multiforme.
