  • M – Metamorphopsia is a common symptom caused by an Epiretinal Membrane.
  • E – Epiretinal membrane appears as a crinkled, cellophane-like structure on retinal examination.
  • M – Most cases of Epiretinal Membrane are idiopathic in nature.
  • B – But some cases of Epiretinal Membrane can be a result of hypertensive retinopathy, diabetes, retinal detachment, or trauma.
  • R – Reduced visual acuity is a common outcome of Epiretinal Membrane due to macular distortion.
  • A – Epiretinal Membrane is most prevalent in patients aged >50 years.
  • N – Non-invasive treatments like vitrectomy and surgical peeling are recommended to relieve macular puckering caused by Epiretinal Membrane.
