Dengue Fever Rash : How To Remember Easily ?
- S – Serotypes of dengue virus (flaviviruses)
- P – Petechiae on extremities may occur after defervescence
- R – Rash in 50% of cases; initially diffuse flushing
- E – Occurs in tropics and subtropics; transmitted by mosquito
- A – Musculoskeletal pain (“breakbone fever”); leukopenia; occasionally biphasic (“saddleback”) fever
- D – Dengue virus has four serotypes
- S – Spreads centrifugally from trunk to extremities and face; pruritus, hyperesthesia in some cases.
