Cutaneous Small Vessel Vasculitis Rash : How To Remember Easily ?

  • C – Cutaneous small-vessel vasculitis (leukocytoclastic vasculitis) 
  • U – Ulcerative lesions appearing in crops on legs or other dependent areas
  • T – Tied to a wide spectrum of diseases, including connective tissue disease, cryoglobulinemia, malignancy, Henoch-Schönlein purpura (HSP)
  • A – Arthralgias, myalgias, and fever (not always present)
  • N – Numerous causes, including infections (such as group A streptococcal infection, hepatitis B or C), drugs, and idiopathic factors
  • E – Easily recognizable by palpable purpuric lesions
  • O – Organ involvement common, affecting the renal, joint, and gastrointestinal systems
  • U – Uncommon in adults, but more prevalent among children
  • S – Systemic vasculitis present in some cases
