Here is a quick mnemonic “COVID RASH to remember about COVID-19 Rash

This can be valuable for patients as well as medical doctors, nurses & students doing their clinical rounds. You can also find it very useful for med exams like USMLE, NEET PG, FMGE, NExT & NCLEX exams

COVID-19 Rash : How To Remember Easily ?

  • C – COVID-19 SARS-CoV-2: The virus causing the disease.

  • O – Occur on trunk and extremities: The rash can be found on these body parts.

  • V – Vesicles, urticaria, maculopapular erythema: Common skin manifestations of moderate/severe COVID-19.

  • I – It is often pruritic: The rash is often itchy.

  • D – Dyspnea, ARDS: Severe cases of COVID-19 can lead to breathing difficulties and acute respiratory distress syndrome.

  • R – Retiform purpura: Severe COVID-19 can cause net-like purple patches/plaques often with necrosis.

  • A – Asymptomatic to mild/moderate: The range of symptoms experienced by individuals.

  • S – Thrombosis and taste/smell loss: Complications of COVID-19, including blood clotting and loss of taste/smell.

  • H – Hand involvement: In mild or asymptomatic COVID-19, pernio-like macules, papules, or plaques can occur more commonly on the feet than on the hands.
