Mnemonic ASCENDING

 

A – “Arises” from the facial artery.

S – “Supplies” the soft palate and tonsils.

C – “Connects” with the descending palatine artery.

E – “Enters” the palate through the greater palatine foramen.

N – “Nourishes” the mucous membrane of the hard palate.

D – “Divides” into branches within the palate.

I – “Inferiorly” runs along the posterior hard palate.

N – “Near” the incisive foramen, it may form anastomoses with the sphenopalatine artery.

G – “Gives” off branches to the tonsils and uvula.
