  • A – Acute sinusitis is an inflammation of the para-nasal sinuses caused by respiratory viruses.
  • C – Criteria for antibiotic prescribing in adults with sinusitis are often not met.
  • U – Unnecessary antibiotic prescribing is a major concern in adults with sinusitis.
  • T – Typical symptoms of sinusitis include facial congestion, purulent nasal discharge, and facial pain.
  • E – Excess mucus or purulence can be observed during direct rhinoscopy in sinusitis patients.
  • S – Sinus transillumination is not reliable for diagnosing sinusitis.
